The Directors of the T. S. Eliot International Summer School are delighted to announce that the 14th Annual programme will be held on the campus of Merton College, Oxford. Merton was founded in the 13th Century and boasts an especially rich and storied history among Oxford’s colleges. Eminent alumni include J. R. R. Tolkein, Theodore Adorno, Stuart Hall, Sir Thomas Bodley, and others. T. S. Eliot studied philosophy there when he first came to England, during which time he also met Ezra Pound, Vivienne Eliot, and others who would play crucial roles in his decision to remain in abroad permanently. All events will be held in the T. S. Eliot Theatre, and participants will attend a celebratory High Table dinner at the week’s end.
